The backup plus has the same basic design, slightly improved. Besides the noisy fan and the lack of a power button/energy saver, the GoFlex design was what I hated most: poorly constructed in terms of sturdiness and balance (the SATA/usb3.0 outlet stand was way lighter than the unit and offered no support for the standing position, while other positions somehow placed the cables in a funny way, standing on the desk, hard to accommodate, while the usb port of the stand was very prone to damage if the cable stood in a bad position, having to replace the entire charger/stand).
