I figured I could just download it and reinstall and be done. I logged on to my WebWatcher personal account to try to resolve this problem, because my copy of WebWatcher 5 has valid upgrades until.
I have checked with my clients and all those who purchased the "Backup CD" got the same fake. Essentially, the "Backup CD", that was sold as a backup of the WebWatcher application, only contains the AutoRun program that opens your web browser and takes you to the WebWatcher homepage. The CD actually contains 102kb of nothing useful - an AutoRun application an HTML file some images and a CSS file. "We strongly recommend you add the Backup CD to your cart in the event that you ever need to reinstall your software or move it to another computer." On the shopping cart page as you check out, the following text appears: The "Backup CD" that I purchased is a complete fraud.

The "Unlimited Update Package" was blatantly misleading-it's only unlimited for a year, which was not clearly stated in 2008 (it is footnoted on the web page now). I have no idea how long our computer (and the systems of the companies that I have installed WebWatcher on) have been unprotected, and what my children have been exposed to during that time. I had to learn this when I was reinstalling the OS on my family computer. There was no communication from the company, the software is just no longer functional. I have learned that Awareness Technologies is not supporting the software I purchased. All total, it cost $153.00 but I figured it was great software (I had used it for, and recommended it to clients for years) and my family deserved excellent protection. Along with the $97.00 for the software, the website recommended that I purchase the "Backup CD" and the "Unlimited Update Package". Don't risk the frustration that I have-and will continue to go through with my clients. After you read my comments I'm sure you will understand and agree. I have to advise anyone looking into purchasing any product from Awareness Technologies to look for their software solutions elsewhere. They only have automatic replies to emails, which proves they have no business sense or adequate payroll funds, whatsoever. What the hell? Who has time for that crap?! DO NOT BUY THIS SUBSCRIPTION! IT'S CRAP! JUNK! And, they do not have an idea of what customer service is. I found out, after I had to pay, that you have to download data on your computer from the phone you are monitoring every time you want to review the info. These people are scammers and sheisters! Their software is junk, too. Webwatcher also sent the same generic response to PayPal, as a reply, no different than what webwatcher sent me. I complained and filed a claim with PayPal, but PayPal doesn't refund any software related purchases. I requested a refund within the 3 day trial period and they sent a generic response, not at all addressing my issue. I had to take it to a tech to service it. We hung up and the backup data for the phone I need to monitor did not complete. Tech support assisted remotely and it seemed to load successfully. 3 days later, I had to call tech support to help because the download didn't complete successfully.

I purchased this subscription and had trouble downloading on my MacBook Pro (2018 model). AVOID THIS COMPANY!īEWARE! YOU NEED TO READ THIS BEFORE YOU BUY! THESE PEOPLE DO NOT HONOR THEIR RISK FREE TRIAL AND DO NOT REFUND YOUR MONEY. Staking your company name over lying about a policy all for $39.95?!?! This will eventually catch up to you WebWatcher! Do right by your customers or you won't be around much longer. I wouldn't want to do business with any company that has these policies in place. What an absolute joke! Even if they had a product that worked, buyer beware and pay attention to these reviews. Apparently this is how this company does business. I asked them if it was worth it for a measly $39.95. WHAT?!?! I asked them to check the emails, the two different case numbers, the chat transcripts that I had with Tech Support and the email I had with the Refund Department. A week later when I did not see any refund on my credit card I contacted them and they said that I was not elligible for a refund.
They told me they would issue me a refund. At 6 days (after it only working for 1 single day) I reached out to customer support (again) and filed a case for a refund. When I purchased they offered a 7 day trial. I contacted Customer Support and they re-issued my license and had me uninstall and re-install. I wish I would have read these reviews before I purchased.
